IGNISOLARIS
I bite the pencils of wax. I want to
test the flavor and the texture of the violet, of the blue, of the
red. Although each color has something special, for the moment I
prefer the celestial blue.
The smell of viscera in the markets makes me remember the lung for
the cat, the homemade slaughter of the pigs and the bullock's heart
that I photographed (I have wanted it was a Sacred Heart, immaculate,
red and dazzling). I decorated it with a lit candle and a margarita.
Then, a fly came.
When I lie down on the floor, face down, I remember that I live
in the Earth that emerges from the Sun, that emerges from dust,
gas and combustion. Someday I would like to be a planet.
ALEJANDRO
URANGA
Mexico City, 1974. The general line of his creative
proposal is the interpretation and the deconstruction of the body.
He is interested in the human relationships as biological and social
communication. He practices the literary manifestations, the performance
art and photography.
In the University of Sor Juana Cloister (UCSJ) he studied professional
photography. He has been part of several photographic workshops
and he learns and practices in an autodidact way diverse aspects
of that discipline. His interest for the literature begins in the
Alicia Reyes' workshop and continues with the writer Guillermo Samperio.
Some time later, he studies Hispanic Literature and a master in
Mexican Literature in the National Autonomous University of Mexico
(UNAM). His incursion in the performance art starts with photographic
projects that involve the active participation of the models. Immediately
after a laboratory of performance art with Elvira Santamaría,
he begins to execute individual pieces of action art. He relies
on superior studies in informatics for the National Polytechnic
Institute (IPN).
From 2001 to date he has participated in the collective expositions
organized by Uniting Against AIDS in the Universitary Museum of
Chopo, where he has presented photography and installation art.
In 2003, in the Cultural Center of Sexual Diversity, he had an individual
exhibition of photographs from the project "Youth and AIDS
on glass bed". In 2004 he collaborated in the "Courtship-Coitus"
ambients, with two photo installations, in the Señorial Hotel.
He has presented performance art actions in the Cultural Palm, in
Ex-Teresa Arte Actual, in the subway, in Mexico Park and other public
places. In August 2004 he coordinated "Body in Escape Actions",
interdisciplinary show of sound art, photo sessions and performance
art, carried out in the gallery José Maria Velasco (exhibitions
and performance art executions in Mexico City).
Now he prepares photographs and object art for the individual exhibition
"Sights of Family," about memory and corporal identity
of his parents and sibling. He finishes photography, installation
and performance art for "Absent Body – Not to lie in
state", a particular reading of the individual exclusively
by his dress. He works with Performa group in the execution, critic
and document of performance actions. He plays the performance art
videogame "Robachicos" as coordinator of project and video
maker.
